Nine Elms, Interrupted

Nine Elms wanted a show that did not look like a show. We staged it inside a working print house in Bermondsey and let the presses run through all eleven minutes.

The approach

The sound design was the room — no track, no score. Seating ran down both sides of the press floor so the audience sat inside the noise rather than in front of it. Lighting was almost entirely the building’s own.

The result

Front-row capture and backstage content were planned into the run-of-show rather than bolted on, so the show carried past the room for eight weeks.
